Working with an EOL Coach/End-of-Life Doula is not a new thing.

It’s been an active role in society for as long as humans have gathered to face illness and death. Here is a definition provided by one of the professional organizations with which I am affiliated:

“End-of-life doulas provide non-medical, holistic support and comfort to the dying person and their family, which may include education and guidance as well as emotional, spiritual or practical care, from as early as initial diagnosis through bereavement.”
